Taking Ballfield Renovation to the Extreme
It’s one of my favorite days of the year. No, not Columbus Day. The day I always look forward to is Extreme Field Makeover Day coordinated by the Wisconsin Sports Turf Managers Association.
This year WSTMA members gathered to renovate one of Slinger Community Park’s softball fields. I was proud to represent Waupaca Sand & Solutions along with my co-worker, Rob. In addition to contributing a little muscle, we donated Sure-Hop Infield Mix to raise and refresh the worn field.
Field makeover days are exciting because the participants get to learn field maintenance tips and tricks by actively taking part in the activity. Plus, with everyone working together, at the end of the day, the Slinger Parks & Recreation Department ended up with a great-looking field.
What other day am I looking forward to? The first, beautiful warm spring day when kids in Slinger will run onto the field and play ball!
